More immediate to the moment, I always felt the dark, pensive and melancholic space that came after New Speedway Boogie and went into Attics of My Life at Deer Creek 7/2/95 was "a thinly vieled commentary" on that days events. "A few other songs that could fit the bill apppeared that night, including ..." Dire Wolf and Desolation Row. "Listen to Garcia's passion and voice inflections on NSB." The same could be said for that dark day in the Dead's history at Deer Creek.

I completely agree w/ you and fen. It's some of the angriest music I have ever heard them play. I've always hoped for a clean source, but maybe it's fitting that the sound is as is. (It must have been the lights.)

And as far as Pig and Condi or Hillary (or both), I can't see it. Thank God. Though Condi does play the piano and chess ...
